Join the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association to learn about the latest research comparing healthcare costs of physical therapy intervention vs. opioids for chronic pain. Because the overuse of opioids for the treatment of chronic pain has led to a national public health epidemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends non-drug approaches (such as physical therapy) over long-term or high-dosage use of addictive prescription painkillers. During this educational seminar, participants will learn what pain scenarios are appropriate for physical therapy intervention and why they should be reimbursed
by insurance. Scenarios will also include case studies showing the average cost of treatment with and without physical therapy. Using evidence-based research, the presenters will show how incorporating physical therapy into treatment plans can decrease overall healthcare costs.
