Join the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association to learn about APTA's #Choose PT Campaign. With overuse of opioids for the treatment of chronic pain becoming a national public health epidemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released guidelines that recommend nondrug approaches such as physical therapy over long-term or high-dosage use of addictive prescription painkillers. During this educational seminar, participants will learn what pain scenarios are appropriate for physical therapy and why they should be reimbursed by insurance, to include: acute musculoskeletal injury, chronic pelvic pain and pain in the neurological patient. Scenarios will also include case studies showing the average cost of treatment without physical therapy vs. with physical therapy. Using evidence-based research, the presenters will show how incorporating physical therapy into treatment plans can decrease overall healthcare costs.
